Talk about Pep overkill!
A FERVENT Burnley-supporting pal was grousing into his beer on Friday night how his team gets into Europe for the first time in 51 years – and aren’t even shown on the box.
The simmering pub rant went on with him seething that Istanbul Basaksehir demanded 75 per cent of the TV money and consequently the match wasn’t shown on any channel – and the Turkish club didn’t even bother to bring any fans to Turf Moor.
“And yet Man City are always on the box,” he said exasperatedly.
“They’ll have been on the box FIVE times before we can see a Burnley Premier League game!”
He forgot to also mention the series All or Nothing – about City – currently available now on Amazon Prime. Talk about overkill!
So look away now, Tony, since Citeh will be on the box again today.
And their 1.30pm game against Huddersfield definitely won’t be a repeat of the last time the Terriers
visited the Etihad when Pep’s side cruised to the title in a vapid 0-0.
If All or Nothing is anything to go by, Guardiola will be in a manic state, demanding a definitive statement.
He’ll be after the same when they play Wolves, who also held them to a 0-0 in the EFL Cup, before penalties.
Burnley are also playing Watford today at 1.30pm. Er, but it’s not being shown live... anywhere... sorry, Tony.
