TV translator was interpreter for Trapattoni

-

IF you thought the dulcit tones of Pope Francis’ translator at Croke Park sounded familiar then you’d be right.

The interpreter was none other than Manuella Spinelli, best known for working with former Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni.

Manuella became the country’s favourite translator but disappeared from our screens when Trap and the FAI parted company in 2013.

She later enjoyed a stint as a soccer pundit before eyeing up a tasty new job in the food industry.

But she was back for another big stadium gig at the closing ceremony of the World Meeting of Families last night.

It’s not the first time she’s worked in Croker, she gave her services when Ireland played there while Lansdowne Road was closed from 2007 to 2009.
