Don’t put Jack in that box..

- BY SCOTT MCDERMOTT

RYAN JACK can’t wait to lock horns with Scott Brown at Parkhead today – but he doesn’t want to be compared to the Celtic skipper.

The Rangers midfielder is tipped to take over from Brown in the heart of Scotland’s midfield and was a late call-up to Alex Mcleish’s squad for games against Belgium and Albania.

First he’ll go toe-to-toe with Brown in the Old Firm derby and while he admires what the Hoops captain has achieved, he scoffed at suggestions he’s a similar player. Jack said: “Scott’s had a good career, he’s got a number of caps for Scotland and he’s been successful.

“But I’m looking forward to playing against him. It’s always a good battle when you go into any Old Firm game.

“You’re playing against good players and that’s really where you want to test yourself. It’s obviously the biggest game of our season.

“There’s a lot of excitement and plenty to look forward to. I can’t wait for it to get started.

“But I don’t really read into any comparisons between myself and Scott. I’m just passionate about my club and I want to do the best I can for Rangers. Hopefully I’ll show that on Sunday.”

Rangers have picked up four red cards already this season but Jack – dismissed four times last term, though two were rescinded – said: “We’re all in this together.

“If one of the boys gets sent off, it’s disappointing because it’s their teammates who feel it.

“But it’s important we stick by them. That’s what happened last year with me me, they all got around me. It’s no different this season.”
