Chuka’s ‘call off the dogs’ plea to Jez
LABOUR leadership hopeful Chuka Umunna yesterday warned Jeremy Corbyn to stop trying to force moderate MPS out of the party.
Mr Umunna, who is campaigning for a second EU referendum, said centre-left MPS such as himself were in danger of being run out of the party.
He told the leadership: “It is within your power to stop this. So call off the dogs and get on with fighting this Tory Brexit.”
But Shadow Chancellor John Mcdonnell said: “Referring to our party members as dogs is just unacceptable.”
A new poll shows over half the members of the biggest unions – Unite, Unison and the GMB – want a second referendum.
