Council and cops probe Hillsbro slur
A COUNCIL officer has been suspended after offensive remarks were posted on social media about the Hillsborough football stadium victims.
Merseyside police are also investigating the tweets about the 1989 disaster in Sheffield which claimed the lives of 96 Liverpool fans.
The posts, allegedly from a worker at Hartlepool borough council, Co. Durham, are said to have included offensive remarks about those who died.
A council spokesman said: “We have been made aware of a number of malicious social media posts.
“One council officer has been suspended.”
Merseyside Police said: “We have been made aware of posts on Twitter and are making enquiries.”
