Lumley: I still suffer bouts of depression
Joanna Lumley, 72 ACTRESS Joanna Lumley has told of her continued battle with depression, nearly 50 years after she had a nervous breakdown.
The New Avengers star, 72, also said she thinks about death and wants to get her “affairs in order”.
Joanna, whose ITV show Silk Road Adventure starts on Wednesday, has told of needing six months off work in her twenties.
And she said: “Occasionally I get eclipsed by sadness or depression, the black dog, and feel lousy for two or three months. Then, one morning, everything’s thrilling again.”
She also spoke of being more philosophical about death, adding: “I’m a great ‘affairs in order’ person.
“I don’t want to leave chaos behind. I’d hate for them to have to dig me up.” GMB’S Tim Roache
