Running with terminal cancer by Kevin Webber

- Kev

DOING what I do for Prostate Cancer UK is an easy choice. You see, I know that because I have prostate cancer, the risk of a male in my family getting it is now doubled.

So why would I not do all I can to raise funds and awareness for the charity?

But what blows me away regularly is the other people lucky enough to have no personal association with prostate cancer who still raise money to fight a disease which now kills more men than breast cancer kills women in the UK.

This week I was honoured to speak about my situation to the team at vehicle leasing company Autorama, who sponsor football’s Vanarama National League.

They have teamed up with Prostate Cancer UK and hope to raise £150,000 for the charity in six weeks – culminating on October 13 which is Prostate Cancer UK Non-league Day – by donating money every time someone leases a car or van from them.

They don’t have to do this – it will cost them money. But CEO Andy Alderson and his team are doing what I wish more businesses that can afford it would do, and putting something back.

At the same time, colleagues at RBS who don’t know me are doing marathons this week and Tough Mudder events next week – all to do their bit and put something back for my favourite cause. I can’t thank them enough.

My thought for this week is this: If you have the ability to give back by word, deed or donation then do. You’ll be making a difference to someone and that someone matters.

Until next week,

If you can give by word, deed or donation then do. You’ll make a difference to someone
