ON FORM SEAN’S DOUBLE

-

APPRENTICE Sean Davis took the honours at Navan yesterday as he reeled off a double which was completed by Dragons Call in the valuable Irish Stallion Farms EBF Premier Nursery.

The Johnny Feane-trained filly was allowed to go off at 20/1 but she made the most of her light weight to bag this €40,000 prize.

Davis got his mount to the front approaching the last furlong and Dragons Call responded well to see off Bailly by a length and a quarter.

Earlier Davis struck aboard the English raider Only Spoofing in the five furlong handicap.

The Jedd O’keeffe inmate pounced inside the last furlong to defeat Amanaat by a length.

Earlier the globe trotting veteran Gordon Lord Byron was denied by Aidan O’brien’s Battle Of Jericho in the three runner conditions race.

Tom Hogan’s ten-year-old (right) gave his all over the course of the last furlong but he couldn’t contain his much younger rival who was ridden by Seamie Heffernan.

The day began with a victory for classic-winning trainer Ken Condon as the Wayne Lordanridden Lady Marengo upstaged some much better fancied rivals in the two-year-old maiden.
