could return to Britain on Thursday, October 25 for the game at Ibrox – and the chance to pitch up against his former England team-mate.

Centre-half Terry had four offers to extend his playing career, including one in the Premier League, but opted to join Spartak for at least 12 months.

But he could extend that stay, with the deal understood to include an option for a further year.

The Russian Premier League side will become only the third club of Terry’s career following his trophy-laden days at Chelsea and a year at Villa, with whom he narrowly missed out on promotion.
