No Love for Gills

Gillingham 0 AFC Wimbledon

STEVE LOVELL is glad Gillingham have the chance to quickly bounce back from a ‘shambles’ of a defeat.

And the Gills manager vowed he will make 11 changes if that is what it takes, with even top scorer Tom Eaves not safe.

“The only positive we’ve got is that there’s another game next Saturday to look forward to.

“It was a shambles and I’m embarrassed. If I’ve got to change the whole team for next week, I’ll change the whole team.

“Tom Eaves is the top scorer at the club, I don’t care. If he’s not going to do what I want, he won’t play – I’ll put someone else in.”

A goal from Joe Pigott (below) gave the Dons the points, and manager Neal Ardley said: “We didn’t create bundles and conditions were difficult, but we were the better team and Pigs has come up with a great goal again.

“Other than James Hanson’s shot [which hit the bar] we didn’t really do it in the final third. But it was a classic away performance – a dead pitch, windy conditions and we had to grind it out.”
