Labour slam ‘filthy’ Foot & KGB smears
LABOUR Party bosses last night angrily dismissed claims their former leader was a KGB informant.
A new book says Michael Foot, who died in 2010, was once paid €42,000 by the Russians to spread propaganda and was codenamed Agent Boot by the KGB.
The allegations were first published in 1995 when Mr Foot sued the Sunday Times and won.
Former Labour leader Neil Kinnock said repeating the claims with no new proof he was “filthy.” And current leader Jeremy Corbyn tweeted: “Michael Foot loved this country. Smearing a dead man, who successfully defended himself when he was alive, is about as low as you can go.”
