14 killed after huge typhoon in Philippines
AT least 14 people were killed in a massive storm which has devastated the northern Philippines, a presidential adviser has said.
Typhoon Mangkhut tore through the main island of Luzon, and was yesterday travelling west towards China.
Almost all buildings in the city of Tuguegarao sustained some damage and communications were down in places, a government official said.
Winds of 185kmh were recorded during the storm.
Delaila Pasion, who had fled her home, said: “We are really frightened. They say it is so strong, we were too scared to remain.”
Four million people were in its path and thousands were evacuated over 6m storm surges.
