Vogue’s selfie promotion... Model swamped with free products in bids for celebrity endorsements

- BY SYLVIA POWNALL

VOGUE Williams admits she’s bombarded with free products from firms seeking a celebrity endorsement – but says she draws the line at vaginal spritzes.

The model and TV presenter also revealed she has an account on an exclusive website where social influencers can “shop” for goods without having to pay for them.

New mum Vogue said: “There is a website you can go on to and I have an account on it. It’s like online shopping but you are not paying for anything.

“You’re just clicking on things that brands have offered because of your social media following on the off-chance you will post about them or Insta-story about them.

“That is just crazy. I know how mad that is but it is also absolutely amazing. I just got some new bed sheets today and I didn’t have to pay for them.” In the documentary Vogue: My Sponsored Life, the 32-year-old candidly admits she loves the perks of being famous but she says not every product gets a recommendation. Vogue, who welcomed her first baby with fiance Spencer Matthews last week, said: “I’ve had to turn down loads of jobs because they just didn’t fit in. “I was offered to do something for a vaginal spritz for after having the baby. Even if it’s the most amazing vaginal spritz ever and it makes you feel great after being torn apart by a baby I still don’t want to promote it.

“I guess anything below the waist I won’t promote. I don’t think I could even do a vaginal spritz for €100,000. No, maybe I could for €100,000, to be fair.”

In the show the Dubliner explores how “likes” and retweets have helped build online empires for a new breed of influencers.

Vogue, whose online credentials include 83,000 Twitter followers and 343,000 Instagram followers, added: “Companies send me gifts in the hope I will use them and post about them. “I actually do use a lot of the products and if I like it, even if I’m not being paid, I will post about it.” She meets up with US celeb blogger Perez Hilton and Suzanne Jackson who has built a successful beauty business off the back of her Sosueme blog and says she admires her entrepreneurial spirit. Vogue said: “I never set out to become an influencer. My social media following came from my career in TV and modelling. “I hate the word influencer. I wouldn’t like to think I influence somebody to buy something.” ■ Vogue: My Sponsored Life airs on Wednesday on RTE Two at 9.30pm. sylvia.pownall@ irishmirror.ie
