Howlin faces Labour calls to step down
LABOUR is holding its think-in this weekend when Brendan Howlin’s leadership could be among the issues discussed.
In recent weeks some local councillors have called for Mr Howlin to stand aside because of poor showings in polls.
Tipperary TD Alan Kelly, who is also the party’s health spokesman, last month hinted at a resignation call telling Tipp FM radio: “I think Brendan needs to consider what is best for the Labour Party into the future.”
The event is in Drogheda, Co Louth, with one Labour insider joking “let’s hope it’s not another Battle of the Boyne”.
