Trawlers may face ban in Irish waters
IRISH trawlers might not have access to waters off the coast of the North after Brexit, it was revealed yesterday.
At the same time the North’s fishing fleet could be barred from trawling of the Republic’s coasts, according to the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee.
Committee chairman Dr Andrew Murrison has urged the UK government to “take action on Ireland’s unilateral suspension of the Voisinage Arrangement”.
There have now been calls for talks between Dublin and London to resolve the issue which could result in job losses on both sides of the border.
