It’s drastic on plastic for Jose

Young Boys v Man Utd Wednesday, 8pm

MANCHESTER UNITED have been warned that they are going to be pitched into a Champions League nightmare this week.

United open their Euro campaign against Swiss champions Young Boys in Berne on Wednesday.

And Gerardo Seoane’s underdogs believe that the plastic pitch at their Wankdorf Stadium gives them a great chance to shock Jose Mourinho’s men.

Young Boys’ midfielder Djibril Sow insisted: “We’re already looking forward to this. We are big underdogs, but we will try to give our best and maybe our pitch can be a big plus for us.

“When you are used to playing on an artificial pitch, there is a big advantage.

“Manchester United is a big team. They have great technical players, but I hope the pitch will make a big difference.

“This is our first time in the Champions League – and we’ll do anything to win. The atmosphere will be intense. All the fans are looking forward to it because we are finally in there, against United.”

Young Boys won their domestic title for the first time in 32 years last season – and have been rewarded with a group that also includes Juventus and Valencia.

United’s last trip to Switzerland two years ago saw them humbled by Basel.

And Sow, 21, who loved to watch Arsenal when he was growing up, added: “It would be a historic game for us if we were to win.

“United will try to show their class, but we will do anything to give them problems – and Basel showed how you can do it.

“It is going to be very hard, but I like it like that.”
