PARENTS Wayne and Coleen Rooney do the school run before going for a stroll around the shops and popping into Starbucks.

It’s a typical day for many families, but for the Rooneys, starting a new life in America, it’s a refreshingly different pace of life.

Back at home in the North West of England, the couple would be mobbed by fans if they set foot in Manchester’s Arndale shopping centre.

But they went largely went unnoticed as they wandered around Washington DC.

In our exclusive pictures, former Everton and Manchester United ace Wayne looked relaxed, and occasionally a little bored, as his family settled into their new home after his transfer to Major League Soccer side DC United.

The couple were rocked last year by Wayne’s drink-driving arrest after he was caught in “party girl” Laura Simpson’s car, but they looked to have

left their troubles back in the UK. They dropped sons Kai, eight, and five-year-old Klay at their new school - and later treated them to a Burger King.

Wayne, 32, even joked about by wearing a paper crown from the fast-food outlet.

But the typically glum-faced striker returned to form as he shopped with wife of ten years Coleen, 32, their six-month-old son, Cass, and Col’s parents Tony and Colette

While Coleen – also mother to two-year-old Kit – loaded her buggy with bags and stopped to check out a psychic shop, a bored-looking Wayne had a rest on the pavement and was later unable to stifle a yawn as the couple sat on a wall. But on the pitch, the ex-england star has been anything but sleepy, after kicking off his first season in the US to mass acclaim. The new DC United captain has quickly won over doubters since his debut last month.

In one match against Orlando City, he pulled off a last-ditch tackle in the 96th minute, before firing a mesmerising 40-yard ball to team-mate Luciano Acosta, who scored the clincher in a 3-2 victory. A video of the moment has since gone viral prompting fans to speculate he’s back to his best.

Looks like Wayne’s been Roo-lling back the years.
