Traditional fabrics hot for autumn
TALLY-HO! Autumn’s heritage print has returned with designers reviving the country-inspired fashion trend. From tartans to tweeds to plaids and herringbone checks, AW18 focuses strongly on traditional fabrics.
Top fashion houses, such as Marc Jacobs and Miu Miu, embraced the trend but Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel proved the most devoted, as he paraded models down the catwalk of crisp autumn leaves wearing the fabric.
The town and country look is a big hit on the high street where a modern yet sophisticated twist to traditional fabrics are seen on suiting as well as a mix of dresses, outerwear and weekend looks.
Blow the budget on a winter must-have, a classic coat that will last you for years.
We’re dreaming about the selection in Arnotts at the moment and are considering spending the rent on the Luisa Cerano tweed coat.
You can get the look for less at Marks & Spencer with their Limited Edition coat (€140) and Spanish retailer Mango’s Balmoral-inspired long coat (€149.99).
Meanwhile, Zara’s tweed mini dress is giving Chanel a run for its money and at just €39.95 is a fraction of the price of the iconic French label.
