Robbie on Sky Sports Robbie playing for Ireland not expecting just to walk into a job. He added: “I don’t want to be one of those players who becomes fat drinking and playing golf all the time. “I’m ambitious. I am enthusiast­ic even now because I can’t wait to see what’s next. “The older you get the more you start to think of the other side of the game. “You want to see what the next chapter is. I want to stay in Ireland with my family all around and wait and see what comes and then we can make a decision.

“It might take a year, two years, it might take four years, I don’t know. I don’t have the right to walk into any team or to go anywhere.

“I’m learning. I’m not finished yet. I’m learning it and studying it [coaching] and if something comes up…. nobody knows.”

Dunphy mentioned TV punditry and said: “There are some great players who are living in TV studios and are paid a lot to talk s***e.”

Robbie replied: “You’ve done all right.”

Dunphy added: “You sit chatting as if to a bunch of mates. It’s a waste of a life, it’s not a big deal sitting there. It’s money for old rope.”

Robbie said: “I do TV work and it keeps you in the game a little bit but I want to go into coaching.”
