Chris asks Virgin to revamp studio

Chris pocketed €1.79million for hosting the Radio 2 breakfast show in 2017-18 and there are reports he will receive €2.2million a year from Virgin.

The 52-year-old fronted the breakfast show on the first incarnatio­n of Virgin Radio – which became Absolute Radio – between 1997 and 2001.

Virgin Radio UK, launched two years ago and owned by Rupert Murdoch’s Wireless Group, is digital-only with 400,000 weekly listeners, against Radio 2’s 15 million. When Chris took over from Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear there were reports his ego was “out of control”. I’m sure he’s learned his lesson...
