GIGGS: RAMBO WILL BE IN HUGE DEMAND

- BY HARRY PRATT

WALES boss Ryan Giggs expects Aaron Ramsey to be a serious target when the January transfer window opens. As the Arsenal midfielder runs down the final months of his contract, all the big guns will be lining up to sign him, according to Giggs. Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool are poised to enter the race in the New Year, hoping to snatch Ramsey (below) on the cheap. And Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan, as well as Spanish club Atletico Madrid, are among those on the continent watching developments. Giggs insists the intense interest is inevitable, given the Welsh ace will be a massive steal – whether for around £15million at the start of 2019 or as a free next summer. Ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Fulham today, Giggs said: “He’s a goalscoring midfielder, who, if he plays 40 to 45 games, will get you 15 goals. Aaron’s a good character, he has a good personality and is a good professional.

“So if he does go, somebody is getting a very good player.”

Remaining in north London no longer seems an option, after contract negotiations collapsed last month with Arsenal unwilling to meet Ramsey’s £300,000-a-week demands.

The Gunners playmaker, 27, has completed just two league games this season under new boss Unai Emery, having been subbed in four and used off the bench in the other.

But Giggs (left) said: “He can play anywhere, in any league, for any elite club. “He’s played at Arsenal for 10 years – and all these games for Wales.

“Aaron’s had a lot of injuries, but I watched him against Cardiff – and he played the whole game.

“And when he came away with us last time, I thought he was in fantastic form.”

Wales face Spain at the Principality Stadium on Thursday and the Republic of Ireland the following Tuesday in the Nations League.

With his wife expecting twins any day, Ramsey missed Arsenal’s Europa League victory in Qarabag last week.

But he is in contention to face Fulham today when the Gunners aim for a ninth win on the spin.
