Swans lose ‘sex’ appeal

-

it’s very hard to win. As a team we are still a work in progress and will learn from this. It was not our day.”

It was almost too easy for Swansea early on as 20-year-old winger Dan James caused chaos.

He had a shot saved after just 19 seconds and his crosses nearly teed up Oli Mcburnie and Celina.

Connor Roberts’s cross was then deflected into his own net by Donacien and the game was there for Swansea. A nightmare fourminute spell at the back cost them dear.

First the excellent Freddie Sears crossed for Edwards to head home. Then the latter saw another header strike Van der Hoorn before hitting the back of the net.

Swansea totally dominated the second half.

Joe Rodon rattled the bar from a Celina corner and Potter threw on Joel Asoro, Leroy Fer and Barrie Mckay in search of an equaliser.

It arrived via Celina and it was some goal too. Swansea passed their way the length of the field for the former Ipswich man to fire home. It certainly was “sexy football”.

But then Chalobah stole a winner from a Grant Ward corner.

Hurst said: “It’s been a long wait for a win and it was probably unexpected with us coming here as huge underdogs.

“The last few minutes felt like hours and it’s a big relief. I have to give credit to the players and we rode our luck at times, but Swansea are a very good side.”
