LIVE FOR TODAY

Running with terminal cancer

- by Kevin Webber

SO today I start on my next challenge to show that the football family can also help to win the battle to stop prostate cancer being a killer.

I have decided to organise and complete a 186-mile solo march to thank the Vanarama National League for their support to Prostate Cancer UK and to prove that even when life deals you some rubbish cards you can still smile, dream big and have a go at living that dream.

I start in the North East today, heading from Blyth Spartans to Gateshead, then Hartlepool United tomorrow and Spennymoor Town and Darlington on Tuesday.

I’ll be somewhere on the A19 on Wednesday, at York City and Harrogate Town on Thursday, Guiseley on Friday, Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday – and ending up at the live BT Sport game Halifax Town v Chesterfield later the same day. Phew... just writing it down sounds tiring!

The TV game is special as it is also Prostate Cancer UK non-league day where fans of Premier League and Championship clubs are invited to support their local club while their teams have a weekend off during the international break.

Speaking to the 10 clubs has given me a boost as they are all looking forward to showing me their club while being part of something that will make a positive difference to families all over the UK in years to come. I will be wearing the shirt of the club I am walking to each day so if you pass a solo walker give me a honk to show your support!

I hope many of you back your local team next Saturday while also lobbing a few quid in the Prostate Cancer UK bucket too. And if you can make it to Halifax Town I may even see you there!

My 186-mile trek to 10 footie clubs has a very special goal ... together we can beat this disease
