BEST OF THE REST

LAURENS fended off Happily to land the Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket and secure a fifth career Group 1 prize.

Danny Tudhope, deputising for the injured PJ Mcdonald, sat motionless as the Karl Burke-trained filly held the lead at the furlong pole, but had to get serious as Happily closed to within a head at the winning post.

Burke will now consider taking on male opposition in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on October 20.

“She could be supplemented for the QEII, she’s already in the Champion Stakes and there’s two options at the Breeders’ Cup,” said the Middleham trainer.
