Barbers snip over VAT rise
HAIRDRESSERS are set to protest against VAT rate changes that they claim will cripple the industry.
The Hairdressing Council of Ireland is calling on salon staff to take to the streets in response to the Budget move for rates to rise from 9% to 13.5%.
A spokesman said: “This VAT increase will only serve to migrate valued clients into the already very active black market.”
A peaceful protest is arranged for October 23 outside Leinster House.
