Good cop to baad cop in rustle tussle

- BY KAREN ROCKETT

POLICE traced a couple’s stolen sheep – and told them to get it themselves.

Patricia and Ivor Vaughan’s ewe was spotted being bundled into a car on a mountain road.

The rustler’s number plate was passed on to police and the sheep found grazing in a back garden.

But officers told farmers Patricia, 67, and Ivor, 70, to go to the council estate ten miles away and sort it.

Patricia, of Bwlch, near Brecon, Powys, said: “You wouldn’t have to go to a house on your own to collect a stolen TV.

“The policeman told us the woman said she was saving the sheep from slaughter and we could go and get it from her garden.”

A spokesman for Gwent Police said a woman aged 34 landed a verbal warning.
