Gazza fears as his funfair football bid goes wobbly

- EXCLUSIVE BY ALAN SELBY

Gazza at fair PAUL Gascoigne left onlookers shocked as he staggered up to a funfair football stall, took four shots – and missed the target each time.

The former England football star, who has been battling to stay off alcohol, was spotted trying to win €20 by shooting a ball through a hole three times.

A video shows the Spurs, Newcastle and Rangers legend unsteady on his feet as he takes a shot. One child is heard asking: “Is that Paul Gascoigne?”

Someone replies: “Yeah, he used to be a footballer.”

The footage was filmed at Nottingham’s Goose Fair last weekend.

One fairgoer said: “It was sad to see a legend like Paul unable to kick a ball straight. He desperately needs to get some help. I hope he does.”

After struggling to get the ball off the ground on his first two attempts, the frustrated star volleyed a third. Staff let him have a fourth, which missed too.

The footage emerged in the week Scottish football chiefs withdrew an invitation for Gazza to join their hall of fame amid fears over his health.
