DEFOE UP TO END CAREER IN AMERICA
JERMAIN DEFOE has been sounded out over a careerending move back to Major League Soccer.
The 36-year-old former England striker has found himself on the fringes at Bournemouth this season.
Defoe (above) spent 12 months with Toronto FC from 2014.
There is growing interest from America in a player who is down the Cherries’ pecking order, despite wages of £130,000 a week. With Wayne Rooney raising the MLS profile, following his switch to DC United, Defoe is up for a return.
He said: “I definitely wouldn’t rule it out because, when I was there, I enjoyed it. I enjoyed going to places I’d never been before.
“And I think the standard of the MLS is improving.
“It’s definitely a league that’s on the up.
“I watch the games and there are some quality teams and all the stadiums are full.”
