“I owe that to the home of English football, to the FA, to London and all of England.”

Fine words from the prospective owner, but a nagging feeling remains that the American (left) can’t just be trying to buy Wembley out of a sense of duty to English football.

If the spin from executives is swallowed whole, the only thing that will change, in regard to English football’s connection with Wembley, is that the FA will get a windfall of about £600million.

Just like Khan’s open letter, it is a deal that looks too good to be true.
