Hughie’s in a rush to get AJ

- BY TOM HOPKINSON

HUGHIE FURY is in a hurry to book a date with destiny by putting himself in pole position to face Anthony Joshua.

Fury, 24, takes on Bulgarian fighter Kubrat Pulev at the Arena Armeec in Sofia, Bulgaria, on Saturday in a title eliminator for a shot at AJ’S IBF heavyweight belt.

That could mean meeting Joshua on April 13 – the date the IBF, WBA and WBO champ has already booked at Wembley for his next outing.

Fury (above) said: “Joshua is the fight I want. I’d face him straight away. I’d take April 13 in a heartbeat.

“That Wembley date would have my name written all over it.

“I see myself as a stadium fighter.

“I wouldn’t be in this business if I didn’t think I could become world champion.”

Beating Pulev must come first and Fury added: “My speed will definitely get the better of a man of that size. We’ve got everything covered if he comes for a fight, or for a boxing match.

“It doesn’t bother me where I fight him. It could be my back garden, his back garden. It’s a ring and it’s a pair of gloves.”
