Yanks are stretched

IN a sport where brutality limits the average career to four years, Philip Rivers in an Ironman.

The Los Angeles Chargers quarterbac­k has taken all the punishment NFL defenders have thrown at him but he hasn’t missed a game in 12 years.

But the 36-year-old (right) met his match this week — an overnight flight from Cleveland to London in preparatio­n to face the Tennessee Titans at Wembley Stadium this afternoon.

“I’ve had better nights,” said a weary Rivers after landing in London on Friday.

“Today was one of those days where I don’t think anything can help.

“It’s just part of it. Tennessee are in the same boat. They got in this morning. You just have to suck it up, make it work for 48 hours, then go on a long trip back.”
