World champ who started training along with brothers

KATIE Taylor took up boxing in 1998 aged 11 coached by dad Peter along with her brothers. Four years later, at 15, she fought Ireland’s first sanctioned female boxing match at the National Stadium, Dublin, and beat Belfast’s Alanna Audley.

She was amateur world champ five times, Olympic gold medallist in 2012 and, after winning all 10 of her fights since turning pro in 2016, is unified lightweigh­t champion holding the WBA and IBF belts.
