Schools set to reopen after probes into building work
THE Department of Education has said five schools inspected for structural problems will reopen soon.
Ten of the Dublin sites, constructed by Western Building Systems, were assesed on Friday.
Gaelscoil Eiscir Riada in Lucan will be partially closed.
Structural issues which require both external and internal intervention were identified.
A spokesman for the Department of Education said: “An appropriate engineering solution, to be implemented during the mid-term break, will allow the ground floor of this building to reopen after the break.
“The interim accommodation team in the Department of Education and Skills is working with the school principal and patron to put in place an off-site interim accommodation solution for the remaining classes.
“With a view to ensuring all classes can be accommodated when the school reopens on November 5.”
Results on four other schools are still awaiting assessment results.
Three in the capital built by WBS have already been forced to close.
