Sepsis death rate drops

THE number of Irish patients dying from sepsis has dropped dramatically over the past three decades, a study has found.

The condition consistently ranks among the most fatal disease syndromes globally.

The new research was presented at the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine LIVES conference this week.

The authors assessed 30-year temporal trends in sepsis mortality around the world.
