Blackpool fans boycott Oyston

- BY JOHN RICHARDSON

ANGRY Blackpool fans are turning their backs on a glamour EFL Cup trip to Arsenal as their fight continues to remove despised owner Owen Oyston.

As the saga in London’s High Court over Oyston’s failure to pay the £31.2million to former director Valeri Belokon went into added time last week – the original order was made 12 months ago – many fans have been saying no to travelling to the Emirates on Wednesday night. It is estimated less than 1,000 will make the journey. Average attendances at Bloomfield Road are around the 4,000 mark – well below their potential as supporters vote with their feet.

A spokesman for the Blackpool Supporters Trust said: “Under normal circumstances drawing a Premier League club in a cup competition would be cause for great excitement.

“Blackpool fans are standing by their principles and refuse to put one more penny into the pocket of owners who have been proven time and time again to put themselves first.”
