Roy charmed by Mesut magic

PROBABLE TEAMS WEMBLEY, TOMORROW KO 8PM ‘Kane will be a king like Kun’

- BY TOM HOPKINSON

CRYSTAL PALACE manager Roy Hodgson fears another five-star display from Mesut Ozil and scoffs at critics of the Arsenal ace. The Ozil magic helped destroy Leicester on Monday and is inspiring the Gunners’ 11-game winning run, although he has been criticised for his work-rate and body language. Hodgson, who admires the German, said: “I was listening to HARRY KANE is on the fast track to becoming a football legend — just like Sergio Aguero. That’s the view of Erik Lamela, who knows both strikers very, very well. Lamela is an international team-mate of Manchester City star Aguero and club-mate at Tottenham of Kane, so he’d rather not be asked to choose who is the better of the two. “What a question!” he said, laughing as it was put to him ahead of tomorrow’s clash between their sides and the two hitmen at Wembley. “They’re both incredible. “Kun has proved through his whole career he’s a great forward, a legend. “Harry is much younger but what we’re seeing from him, it’s very promising and looking that he could become a legend as well. “And as a mate, I just wish him the best in his career.” Aguero, 30, with six goals, has scored one more in the Premier League this season than Kane, 25, at the nine-game mark. Overall, the Argentina star has 149 top-flight goals in 215 appearances with the England captain on 113 in 162. Lamela (above), too, has been on the goal trail putting his injury woes behind him to score five in nine appearances, three of them in five Premier League matches despite starting only one of them. He added: “I don’t think I am in the best form I’ve been in — after all, there’s only been a few games this season. “I’ve started the season very well, but you cannot get obsessed by the figures because it is still only the beginning. “It is a question of taking it simple. The season’s just started. There’s a lot more to come from me. “I am just going to try to keep at this level, the team are going to try to do the same and it’s a team with a lot more to give.” It is a team that has had a mixed start to the season. They have won seven from nine in the league — but are struggling in Europe, losing to Inter Milan and Barcelona before a 2-2 draw with PSV Eindhoven in midweek, leaving them on the brink of elimination. a book programme the other day where they were going through the names of incredibly famous, gifted authors whose work was being dismissed as being useless, like Jane Austen for example. “So criticism is nothing new. “The way to overcome is to get out on the field and do so well people can’t criticise you fairly or unfairly. I would like him to come here in bad form!”
