I copped dirty looks shooting new crime show

RTE star Lynn is Taken with siren thrills

- BY SYLVIA POWNALL

Tallaght with a siren on and that was probably my favourite moment.

“There were a lot of cars pulled over and I was getting dirty looks from people at bus stops.

“It was kind of early on and that really helped me get into character.

“I was like, ‘OK, so that is what people think of plain clothes cops driving around in a car’. I was with a stunt driver as well so that was great fun.”

Taken Down is produced by the same team as Love/hate and opens with the discovery of a young Nigerian girl’s body. The story, co-written by Stuart Carolan Lynn Rafferty and crime author Jo Spain, explores the gritty world of slum landlords, brothels and crime gangs.

These dramatic stills from tonight’s opening episode show Jen’s colleague Fitzer wrestling immigrant suspect Samir to the ground while his terrified family looks on. Lynn said: “It’s a compelling, thought-provoking crime drama, different from anything else I’ve seen. You have the crime element so it captures a lot of what is going on in Dublin. Suspect tackled in tonight’s episode

“Even though it’s heavy and dark at times there still is that Irish humour.

“It’s gonna start conversations and get a reaction.”

Taken Down is on RTE One tonight at 9.30pm.
