Two ar­rested after ‘€180k drugs’ seized in home raids

TWO men have been ar­rested after gar­dai seized €180,000 worth of sus­pected drugs.

The haul came when cops raided two houses at Maulbaun Es­tate, Pas­sage West, in Cork, at around 11pm on Fri­day.

Gar­dai found a mas­sive quan­tity of sus­pected drugs in­clud­ing cannabis resin and herb, ec­stasy tablets and co­caine.

A sum of cash was also seized.

Two men, aged in their 40s and 50s, were ar­rested at the scene and are be­ing de­tained un­der Sec­tion 2 of the Crim­i­nal Jus­tice Drug Traf­fick­ing Act 1996 at Bridewell Garda sta­tion.

They can be held for up to a week.

A Garda spokes­woman said: “The Cork City Di­vi­sional Drugs Unit have seized a quan­tity of drugs with an es­ti­mated street value of €180,000, anal­y­sis pend­ing.

“They ar­rested two men dur­ing a planned oper­a­tion tar­get­ing the sale and sup­ply of drugs.

“A planned search of two houses took place at Maulbaun Es­tate, Pas­sage West, Cork at 11pm on Fri­day.

“The two men were ar­rested at the scene and are cur­rently de­tained at Bridewell Garda Sta­tion, Cork.

“They can be held for up to seven days.”
