Brave Gareth on 18 tabs a day for illness
Gareth O’callaghan DJ Gareth O’callaghan has revealed he is on 18 tablets a day as he battles a terminal disease.
The broadcaster, who quit presenting Classic Hits on 4FM in August, said he was advised to avoid stress after he was diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy.
The disease is a virulent form of Parkinson’s which attacks the central nervous system.
The 57-year-old said doctors told him: “Stress is like red meat to a shark. It will absolutely devour you.
“It will take away the quality of time that you are craving to hold on to.
“For someone who would probably take a couple of Solpadeine for a headache I’m on about 17 or 18 tablets a day.”
