Erno’s Cube
I have an original Rubik’s Cube, a deluxe edition from 1980, in “as new” condition and with original packaging. Is it valuable? Michael Saunders, Cardiff Well, you won’t exactly be dining out on the proceeds here, but at €40-€50 for unopened and sealed originals you can at least afford a takeaway. Hungarian Erno Rubik invented the multi-coloured cube in 1974 but it didn’t take off until it launched at international toy fairs some years later. It won the 1980 Toy of the Year Award and more than 100 million Rubik’s Cubes were sold from 1980-1982 alone.
