Can you give me a value on my old treadle sewing machine, which is in a carved wooden cabinet and comes complete with the original tools? Steve Mckinney, via email Your machine looks like a Singer and while they are virtually indestructible they are also hard to sell because they are so large and heavy. I’d assume €50-€100 for a quick sale. Some people have sold good Singers for a few hundred pounds, but it could take a while. Smaller Victorian tabletop ones – by Newton Wilder, Weir and Cookson – can also fetch hundreds.
