had a chance to see through my eyes maybe they would understand. It deteriorates every day and I know my eyesight will never be as good as it is right now, in this moment, it’s quite sad.”

Evie revealed she decided to speak out to raise awareness and help others understand the condition.

She said: “No one will find a cure if we all just sit on our butts and complain on it, I want to help.

“Fighting blindness has given me a chance to raise awareness and I’d like people to help.”

Viewers praised the youngster for her candid admission. One posted: “@Victoriasmurfit I thought Evie did a fantastic job last night. Funny, charming, beautiful, witty and so well spoken. I can see why you are so proud of her.”

However, some social media users were mainly fixated with how Victoria kept rubbing her daughter’s back during the interview.

While obviously done to reassure her child during a live interview on the national broadcaster, people still took to social media to share their thoughts. Victoria later took to Twitter to hit back at the trolls, saying she was just trying to support her daughter. She wrote: “Just being there for my 14-year-old who was speaking out for the first time in order to help anyone else going through this. This has been hard. We’re a loving and tactile family.” Replying to a follower who offered her support, Victoria added: “Am boggled. “My baby spoke so beautifully to raise awareness for all others dealing with similar issues.” news@irishmirror.ie Evie Baxter on Late Late
