Rockett’s review

-

Stacey and Kevin’s salsa opened the show with a jam-packed routine filled with spectacular lifts. Exciting stuff from the bookies’ favourite – and mine. A decent score but it was worth more, Craig! Score: 33

This Argentine tango oozed sexual chemistry and showed the total trust between Lauren and AJ. It was sharp and slick, if a little stiff and lacking fluidity. But given its complexity, this routine was harshly marked. Score: 25

Graeme looked so happy and comfortable doing his theatre jazz number with Oti for the couple’s choice dance that I could see him in the West End! Could our cricket star have a new career in musical theatre? Score: 32

Brave, beautiful and brilliant. What about that flip straight-legged lift? Faye and Giovanni delivered what was, for me, the best paso doble of the series. But I don’t get why she’s so surprised by her high marks. Score: 38 Slowly but surely, Kate improves every week. This American smooth suited her classic style and good timing. I thought she might be gone by now, but she and Aljaz are slowly edging their way up the leaderboard. Score: 30

Whenever Charles dances a Latin number I want to go on a night out with him. He’s such a natural, easy dancer and this samba with Karen suited him to a tee. The judges clearly fancy him, and I don’t blame them! Score: 38

A light and effortless quickstep, this was pure Hollywood glamour. Joe was perfect in hold with Dianne but just as good alone. His gran was in the audience and he was set on making her proud. He didn’t let disappoint. Score: 38

Ashley and Pasha’s fish ‘n’ chip finale was like a scene from Grease – only better! Fizzing with energy, precise and perfect, their jive brought the house down. It’s all still to play for, but Ashley looked flawless. Score: 40
