Sheridan shot to fame in sitcoms like The Royle Family and Gavin & Stacey but has impressed in a string of meaty roles including Cilla and a mind-blowing performanc­e in The C-word – a TV film about writer Lisa Lynch’s cancer battle.

Sheridan has had her share of ups and downs, battling mental heath and overcoming grief after the loss of her dad Colin to cancer in 2016.

She said of her rollercoas­ter life: “If anything, I should be more honest, because if it helps other people, hearing this, that’s a good thing.”
