Talk TV Coldplay rise HERO OF THE WEEK to rock giants in the frame

The Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams documentary screened for one night at cinemas around the world before debuting on Amazon Prime on Friday.

The film was compiled by Mat Whitecross who followed the band with a camera for 20 years, charting their meteoric rise from University College of London where Chris Martin, inset, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion first met.

He collected more than 1,000 hours of footage charting their highs and lows from kicking the drummer out to headlining Glastonbury.

“I was always filming,” says Whitecross. “I think they just got used to me being around.”

The film is on Amazon Prime and will also be released on DVD this side of Christmas. There are few who haven’t heard of Maurice Mccabe and the Disclosures Tribunal but RTE’S two-part documentary Whistleblower allowed him to share his deeply personal story with the nation. Katie Hannon’s painstaking piece of work is a triumph even if it was uncomfortable to watch at times.
