GORDON Elliott is the man to follow at Cork today where he has every chance of a double on the cards first two races.

The trainer (right) could pick up the first of the maiden hurdles with Eclair De Beaufeu who was beaten in a maiden hurdle at this track several weeks ago.

Even though he met with defeat that day the French import shaped with promise and he can surely improve as a result of that first experience of hurdling.

Gordon Elliott’s star faces no easy task as he takes on a field that includes Faugheen and Supasundae.

However, he is tipped in the belief that he will have come on from that Down Royal outing.

Over the last few weeks, various Elliott inmates have progressed well from their first runs of the season and it is worth taking the chance Samcro can follow suit.

It is interesting that Willie Mullins has opted to start Faugheen over this distance and he might well provide Samcro with a greater test than Supasundae.

In the Grade 2 Florida Pearl Novice Chase, Blow By Blow can give Elliott a third consecutive victory in the race.

He won at the Cheltenham Festival last season and there was plenty to like about his recent chasing debut at Galway.

The card concludes with a cracking bumper where Elliott’s Malone Road may just pip Mt Leinster, while Hearts Are Trumps is put forward in the first handicap hurdle, while Champion Bumper winner Relegate is the maiden hurdle pick. maiden hurdles on today’s card. Getaway John looked very good when winning two bumpers last season and his last run at Punchestown is best forgotten. He has the potential to make up into a very smart novice hurdler and should take beating despite lacking the advantage of a recent run. Paul Nolan has his team going nicely and his Peculiar Genius could be the answer in the handicap chase. He made an encouraging return to action with a second at Wexford recently and he can make his light weight count.
