Boyzone Shane’s Late Late Show rage

- BY CLAIRE GORMAN

BOYZONE singer Shane Lynch has caused outrage after a foul-mouthed rant on The Late Late Show. He arrived late due to a flight delay and was greeted by a screening of the group’s memorable debut performance on the series in 1993. Band member Ronan Keating is believed to be “furious” after Shane told host Ryan Tubridy to “shove it up your f***ing h**e”. While Ronan, 41, joked he had “no idea” what the band was doing in the performance, Shane erupted. He fumed: “Listen, what’s the story behind that clip? I’ve busted my bollocks to get here. “And do you see that clip? You can shove it up your f***ing h**e. That’s what you can do with that clip and that’s the truth. Honest to God.” Shane, 42, made a gesture with his middle finger as the audience watched on. Host Ryan attempted to lighten the mood, saying: “We see it as a bit of fun to remember the early days.” But Shane replied: “I don’t give a f***.” When Ryan asked did he not see the video as a “a bit of craic”, Shane responded: “No, I don’t.” When contacted by the Irish Sunday Mirror about repercussions for the boyband star, a spokesman for RTE said: “We won’t be commenting on this.” Bandmate Keith Duffy, 44, also refused to speak about the event when contacted by this newspaper. The boyband were given the slot to promote their upcoming 25th anniversary tour which will see them perform at Dublin’s 3Arena on January 24. The segment kicked off with a live performance of their new single – but only Ronan, Keith Duffy and Mikey Graham were there to perform it as Shane was delayed. Meanwhile, bets are being taken on Shane missing out on the tour. Paddy Power tweeted: “After Shane Lynch’s antics on the Late Late Show last night, we go 7/1 he misses any show on the Boyzone tour. 14/1 to miss the tour entirely.” news@irishmirror.ie
