Nigeria army reveals fatal base ambush

THE Nigerian army has revealed an attack on their military base last Sunday claimed the lives of several men.

The news comes after authorities refrained for several days from admitting the Boko Haram-led ambush took place in the north-east province of Borno.

The death toll was previously reported to be more than 40 but the army have disputed that figure.

A statement said troops are operating in “trying times” and the terrorists are engaged in a widespread propaganda campaign with the online publication of “false casualty figures”.
