Kevin dishes up bid to help lonely people at Christmas

- BY JIM GALLAGHER

Chef at launch CELEBRITY chef Kevin Dundon is urging people to make Christmas special for people living alone.

And the big-hearted TV personality revealed how he invited two students for Christmas dinner last year.

Kevin has appealed for people to arrange coffee mornings, wine and cheese evenings and invite people who have lost family members through accidents or illness.

The father of three spent two days this week at an All Things Considered Cafe in Dublin with all proceeds going to Alone.

Organised by Supervalu, the cafe raised thousands for the charity.

Kevin said: “We get so self-absorbed at Christmas time, it’s all about us and we forget about neighbours or family members who could be on their own.

“When you cook Christmas dinner it’s so easy to put out another plate because the food is there anyway.

“How nice is it to knock on your neighbour’s door and say, ‘Come in and have a plate of food’?”

The TV chef, who owns Dunbrody Country House Hotel in Co Wexford with wife Cath, said he invited two young French staff members to have dinner with his family last year as they were on their own.

He added: “They were delighted.”
