- BY STEPHEN HAYWARD

FILM director Nicolas Roeg, famed for creating eerie works with his disjointed editing style, has died aged 90.

His hits included 1976 sci-fi classic The Man Who Fell To Earth, which starred David Bowie.

Bowie’s son, film director Duncan Jones, praised Roeg’s “incredible body of work”, adding: “Thank you for making brave choices and giving [me] an ongoing love of filmmaking.”

And Edgar Wright, the British director of Shaun of the Dead, hailed Roeg as “a master of the art”.

London-born Roeg made his directorial debut in 1970 with Performance, which starred Mick Jagger and became a cult classic.

His other films include 1973’s Don’t Look Now, with Donald Sutherland.
